NEW JERSEY GUN LAWS
Under N.J.S.A. 2C:39, many gun offenses are second-degree crimes that carry mandatory prison time, even for first-time offenders under the Graves Act. However, when a case is defended strategically, the law also allows for waivers and alternative sentencing.
